This custom-made teapot is crafted around 1990 by Mr. Tong MengDa (童孟大), a registered artisan of the Yixing Zisha Craft Factory (also known as Factory No. 1).
Since the 1980s, Yixing Zisha (Purple Clay) teapots have gained significant popularity in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan. To meet the growing demand, artisans from the official Factory No. 1 began crafting teapots in non-official workshops operated by Hong Kong and Taiwanese merchants.
This teapot is made of red clay (紅泥/紅土), it has fine material texture and was fired at a high kiln temperature, achieving a high level of sintering, making it ideal for brewing light or highly fragrant teas.
